About Fixed Networks

Our Fixed Networks (FN) business group provides an array of “gigabit to the home” solutions to deliver data access to our communication service provider (CSP) customers. This includes Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) as well as 5G fixed wireless access (FWA), xDSL and cable upgrades. We build solutions that don’t stop at the home but also bring that gigabit experience into the home using our meshed Wi-Fi solution.

Job Description

Fixed Networks Europe + MEA RBC central NPI team is looking for a NPI Expert to join our dynamic team based in Madrid.

As a NPI Expert you will become a member of the Fixed Networks Europe + MEA RBC central NPI team (part of central Customer Engineering) with the prime mission to develop and supply best in class NPI engineering expertise.

Your initial focus will be on Voice Solutions (POTS, SIP, ISAM-Voice, GPON-Voice, PSTN transformation, Voice combined with Fixed Wireless Access). Next to expand to other parts of the Fixed Networks portfolio (Products, Solutions, Services).

In addition, in this role you will be working closely with Technical Project Managers which will act as your prime interface in your projects, and with Solution Architects for projects requiring solution design and architecture services.

Job Responsibilities & Competencies

Customer engineering projects – preparing for and executing Customer Demos, Proof of Concepts, Lab Trials and Field Trials for New Technologies (both customer facing and back-end). Concrete activity will consist of Test Planning, Test Case Definition, Test Setup, Test execution, reporting quality issue, working on reported quality issues (NPI tickets) till resolution, interfacing with customer technical staff for FN technical aspects, team up with FN RBC Pre-Sales & Business Development & Program Managers, work in collaboration with other RBC Customer Engineering Staff.
Take part in or lead NPI & Customer Engineering Readiness plans (skill & working environment developments) – both for you personally, your team members and the RBC Customer Engineering community
Take part in or lead NPI & Customer Engineering Readiness plans (skill & working environment developments) – both for you personally, your team members and the RBC Customer Engineering community
Develop, maintain, apply and share a technical contact network within the RBC, other RBCs, with the FN Business Units R&D teams, and with other Business Line BUs (for end2end multi-BG solutions)
Next take part in executing a set of NPI services for the RBC:
a. NPI Ticket Support -> post-project issue processing

b. Technical Q&A support for Partners -> assigned engineer to assist partners with pre-sales projects
c. Travel Kit -> borrow newest equipment to CE teams and customer projects, logistics, regulations
d. Remote Lab -> offer remote lab set-ups for continued hands on experience development
e. Playbooks – contribute to RBC playbook program
Works with clear guidance and supervision in his / her area of New Product Introduction ( run Product or Solution Demos, Lab Trials, Field Trials, support formal Homologations or Type Approvals by customer on our products or solutions, provides technical support during pilot introduction of new products in customer networks,…) for pre-sales activities or deployment projects by delivering his / her outcomes with the expected quality, timely and according to estimated cost/duration.
Performs routine assignments within standardised procedures and practices with regular supervision to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
Receives instruction, guidance and direction from others and uses own knowledge and existing procedures to solve standard problems.
Prepares New Product Introduction related activities under guidance within standard guidelines and processes.
Prepares Test Lab environment and generates NPI documentation of the planned activities with guidance.
Co-ordinates and collects required inputs for New Product Introduction activities.
Network Design / Network Integration and Deployment / Network Configuration Management

Qualifications & Requirements:
You hold minimal a bachelor’s degree, preferrably in ICT.
You have a great interest in telecommunications and IT technologies.
You have some experience in some of the below domains
a) Voice technologies, protocols, solutions
b) Fixed Network products & solutions
c) IP products & solutions
d) Telecom protocols
e) IT products & solutions
f) Script languages
You are eager to learn & develop yourself and others.
You like flexibility, a dynamic work environment, working on various domains, working with various teams and roles.
